“ Club culture evolving ” has been the guiding principle of Beta Nightclub since day
one, and we take pride in being on the cutting edge. In light of this, we’ve updated
theLOUNGE in the second floor of our club with brand new lighting unlike anything else
in North America. We’ve dubbed the remodel theLOUNGE 2.0 .
The task at hand took over a year of tireless effort by Beta Nightclub General Manager
Michael McCray . In total, the overhaul required more than 500 hours of labor on the
part of the club’s tech team, in addition to consultation by Shawn Kirk and Daniel
Steger of Definitive Productions .
theLOUNGE 2.0 is fitted with over 10,000 individual LED lights – more than 1,000% as
many as its previous incarnation. The pixel mapping is coordinated with two Pixlite 16
Control Boards by Advatek , using the software Madrix 3.0 Professional .
Approximately 700 feet of custom-extruded aluminum with custom-cut plexiglass strips
was designed to pressure fit the luminous tracks of LEDs.
Roughly 400 lbs of steel was used on the back wall mosaic. No drawings were used for
this installation – steel workers cut each piece by eye while welding them!
Seven router bits were destroyed to install the 13 channels in the flooring of
theLOUNGE 2.0, and 100 amps of 12 volt DC power is used to handle the LEDs’ draw.
Finally, eight LED scanner lights, two .5 watt lasers, two ultraviolet strobes, and a
55-inch TV screen behind the booth added the final touches to the audiovisual
spectacle on Beta Nightclub’s second floor.
