Beta Says Goodbye
To our fellow dance community,
Almost 11 years ago, we, the founders of Beta, began to pull together our idea of what the future of dance clubbing should be, not only here in Denver, but the world. It was an idea that centered on the dance floor, providing cutting-edge dance music and entertainment, with state-of-the-art production along with an unparalleled vibe. It was an idea that club culture should always be evolving, striving to be its best version of itself.
Well, it’s been almost 11 years, and it is with love and adoration for our community that we close the curtains on an amazing show we affectionately call Beta Nightclub. It has been a source of great pride that we have had the privilege to provide a place filled with magic for our thousands of fans, countless DJs and faithful staff, promoters and partners. Saturday, January 5, 2019 will be our last night as we bid farewell to our dance floor.
Our journey has been a wild one, from winning The 25 Greatest Club of All Time by Billboard Magazine and The #1 Club in America by Rolling Stone, to hosting some of the most amazing artists of our time. Whether it was blissfully feeling the music through the sweet spot on the dance floor or enjoying the night sky with the stars as our companion on the patio, there has been countless memories made at 1909 Blake Street.
Our mission statement was always simple. Club culture evolving. As we made the decision to draw Beta Nightclub to a close, we reflect back on this mantra and what it has become. We want to honor what we set out to do, honor our DJs for their devotion to their craft, honor our staff and promoters for their dedication, and most importantly, honor our fans who have shared their valuable time with us. It is with that reflection that we acknowledge the need to take this time to reset, recalibrate, and re-familiarize ourselves with our promise. Our reputation reflects our integrity and we want to remain true to what we stood for.
We can’t predict what the future holds, but we certainly cherish all the incredible memories we were able to share with each and every one of you. There are many opportunities for 1909 Blake Street as we are exploring the future for this very special venue but for right now we want to focus and celebrate what this place means for so many people. So cheers to the nearly 11 years, and we hope to see all your beautiful faces before the final show.
With love and respect,
Dance culture changes by the day, but one Denver nightlife destination always stays on beat. Between world-class bookings, unparalleled production values, and a second-to-none crowd experience, no weekend in the city is complete without a visit to Beta Nightclub.
Beta has come to symbolize the past, present and future of the Mile High’s buzzing nightlife community. In 2007, beloved event promoter and Beatport co-founder Brad Roulier took over a lease on the corner of 19th and Blake. After a soft launch in March of the following year, Beta Nightclub’s grand opening took place on Memorial Day Weekend of 2008 and was headlined by none other than superstar DJ Danny Tenaglia.
Roulier fitted his new venue with a state-of-the-art Funktion-One sound system when only a handful of U.S. nightclubs could say the same. It didn’t take long for Beta to become a favorite stop on the tours of such world-class DJs as deadmau5, Kaskade and Armin Van Buuren, and its programming remains a cut above the rest of the market to this day. As a result, Beta Nightclub has racked up its fair share of accolades over the years – including DJMag’s coveted #1 Nightclub in North America award in 2011!
From the day our doors opened to the public, Beta also raised the bar on nightlife eco-sustainability. The venue as a whole boasts a 90% green rating, and theLOUNGE upstairs is 100% green! By implementing a comprehensive recycling program as well as using sustainable and recycled materials during renovations, Beta Nightclub has all but neutralized our environmental impact.
With nearly a decade in the books, Beta Nightclub stands as monument to the forward-thinking nightlife scene that first put Denver on the map. We pride ourselves on keeping up with what changes may come – not only in the music, but the culture and technology surrounding it – and you can hear for yourself how it resonates from every surface of the building.
